Workshop

Instrument repairs, set-ups and fretwork

I graduated from London Guildhall University in 2001 having studied Musical Instrument Technology for three years specialising in the making of Steel Stringed Acoustic Guitars.

Alongside working in music and teaching, I worked with Freshwater Instruments in the mid 90's (now retired) building 'teardrop/mandolin family' style instruments, training in every aspect of the build processes; through to finishing and polishing, final set up and demo (Mandolin, Mandola, Octave Mandola, Bouzouki, Cittern + Guitars). We upscaled to produce thirty-six full build instruments every quarter.

On returning to the Highlands in 2001/2, I worked with local instrument maker Thomas Buchanan on his production runs of unique & fine hand crafted, stringed musical instruments. I began teaching the guitar full time and decided to set up my own workshop for personal builds and carrying out instrument repairs, set-ups and fretwork.
