Alan was my tutor for several years when I was in high school. He helped me build my fundamental technique, foundation in theory and ear training, all of which eventually led me to acquiring an Honours degree in music and playing in a professional wedding band. One of the most critical things Alan offered me was the opportunity to rapidly absorb new concepts and dimensions of guitar playing, and music in general, that would have taken years to stumble upon independently, if at all. Rory Macgregor
Alan is a great guitar teacher! Whatever level of experience you have at guitar playing Alan can always teach you something new in a fun and interesting way! I started with Alan when I was a beginner and thought it was fantastic, you learn the songs that you want to play. Helped me through both my Standard Grade and Higher music! At a more experienced level you learn lots of different techniques, theory to improve your playing! Lessons are always fun and interesting! Great for learning Guitar or Bass guitar! Would highly recommend! Douglas Scott
I had lessons with Alan for six years and in that time he introduced me to various styles of music and playing that I wouldn't have had the confidence to try otherwise. Great guy, even manages to make theory fun! James Tonner
Great guitar tutor, easy relaxed manner, very friendly and talented musician, highly recommended Alan Macleod ( no relation!!) Alan Macleod
Top guy, had 3 guitar teachers when I was a kid and settled with Alan 3rd time round and I can assure you the man knows his stuff and keeps things relevant for kids to keep them interested and also adults as I stayed with him through the child to teenager transition! Would recommend to anyone of any age who fancies learning a new hobby or mastering an instrument. Couldn't fault any aspect of the tuition at all for the many years that he taught me. Ieuan Gittings
Alan was a fantastic tutor for many years for my son who went on to university and gained a Honours for music. Alan played a large part in that. Great tutor would recommend him to all. Campbell MacGregor
I can highly recommend Alan... Tutored both my children for three years. Janice Sutherland Gittings
Top guitar tutor. I could hardly hold a guitar properly when I started lessons but in a short space of time I became confident in playing and enjoyed the challenges that Alan set me for my next lesson. Alan has a talent for making people feel relaxed and comfortable to get the very best out of them - I couldn't recommend him highly enough! Jonny Fraser
Started lessons with Alan during school for my Duke of Edinburgh award and continued with the lessons after. Learnt a lot and had a lot of fun during it, Alan was very entertaining and would highly recommend! Tom Dryborough
I took lesson with Alan when I first moved down from Caithness when I was getting back to playing and needing a regular session to keep the pressure up. Alan proved to be an excellent teacher and player giving tailor made lessons to suit my aims and goals. If your looking for a teacher to get you to were you want to be. Look no further. David Body
Fantastic guitar teacher and a genuine nice guy. Deri Gittings
Alan knows his stuff! You won't be disappointed if you go to him, excellent tutor. Ian Guy
Most excellent tuition and luthier services, you know it makes sense. John Urquhart
Alan taught my son to play the guitar, Alan was always enthusiastic and encouraging. Would highly recommend. Alison Stuart Hutchison
I tried a couple of other tutors in the Inverness area, but it was with Alan my guitar playing really blossomed. He must be one of the most experienced tutors in the area, and that comes out in his lessons. From the first lesson Alan created a really positive relationship between myself and the guitar, showing me how to play along to some of my favourite songs. Alan really does know the instrument inside out (literally!) and I would recommend him to anyone at any level or age. David Ferguson
Having been a student of Alans for a couple of years now, I can thoroughly recommend him. I have been playing guitar for many years, and contacted Alan as I felt in a bit of a rut with my playing. I have now been attending lessons weekly over the past couple of years. Alan is not only a fantastic player, but is also a great teacher. He is a skilled musician, but more importantly, he is willing to share his skill with his students. Had I started learning earlier in life, I can only wish I had Alan as a teacher. I have learned a lot from Alan, and really enjoy my weekly lessons. I will be attending lessons ongoing, Alans input is improving my playing, and more importantly we are having a laugh while learning. Highly recommend Alan to all. Phil Jones
